I n this article, we will be talking about two popular African art forms; music and visual arts. While African art has existed for as long as African music, the latter has seen a significant transformation in the last decade, with rich and complex melodies that are uniquely African. This music genre has piqued the public's interest all throughout the globe.

Africa has had quite a moment of creative growth since the early 1990s, as more and more foreign venues open their doors to African exhibits throughout the globe. This generation of artists is expected to carry African art and music into the future and beyond. Here are the best African artists of 2021.

Motha Kabelo

Kabelo Motha is one of South Africa's most prominent musicians and might easily be taken for the greatest too. The majority of people regard him as the "King of Amapiano" and the genre's founder. Kabza De Small may be described as a DJ and a producer. Melodic, vibrant, and catchy music is recognized to be his distinctive style. He is a champion of an insurmountable melody that has crossed continents and gained acceptance from those who have never heard of him. Kabza De Small has won the Best Produced Album South African Music Award as well as the 2020 DStv Mzansi Viewers' Choice Awards. It's not by luck that he's at the top of this list.

Wizkid

Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, commercially known as Wizkid is a Nigerian songwriter and musician

At the age of 11, he started recording music and published a joint CD with the Glorious Five, a band he and a few of his church buddies created. Banky W's Empire Mates Entertainment hired Wizkid to a record contract in 2009.  Wizkid had over 3.4 billion Spotify listens by February 2021, making him the most-streamed African musician of all time.

Wizkid rose to worldwide stardom in 2016 as a result of his duet with Drake on the smash track "One Dance," which topped the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States and fourteen other countries. Wizkid became the first Afro-pop artist to be included in the Guinness Book of World Records after the song smashed many records.

Enfant Précoce

Enfant Précoce, or Francis Essoua Kalu, is a self-taught African-Cameroonian artist who produces vibrant, chaotic, and vivid scenes of nature, people, and mythical creatures. Rather than making social or political statements with their work, the artist wants the viewer to visit their own domain of imagination and fantasy when looking at their art.

Fik Fameica

Fresh Boy, also known as Fik Fameica, is one of East Africa's most exciting rappers right now. The artist made his debut in the music business in late 2017 with the song Kutama. The 24-year-old prefers to explore his reggae-influenced style over traditional Ugandan music. Fik Fameica has previously teamed up with well-known African artists such as Joeboy, Vanessa Mdee, and Patoranking to break through boundaries and engage with a wide range of young people via his music.

Elaine

The melody in her work is always beautiful. Elaine is steadily establishing herself as one of Africa's leading R&B artists. She has amazed the nation with her voice at the youthful age of twenty-one, at an era when most singers choose to use autotune.

When Elaine debuted her smash hit, You're the One, in 2019, she took the globe by storm. She became one of South Africa's most streamed musicians as a result of the song. Elements, her first EP, was a strong debut, showcasing her seductive voice and heartfelt songs about love and relationships. Elaine has rekindled interest in R&B music and is presently contracted to Columbia Records in the United States.

Thandiwe Muriu

Thandiwe Muriu is an African visual artist who is neither a painter nor a musician; photography is their area of expertise. Thandiwe Muriu, a young Kenyan photographer, has created a stunning and unique combination of traditional African motifs, patterning, and haute couture in her images. While her photographs seem like they belong in a Vogue issue, it's the patterns, the usage of black models, and the natural afro wigs that really represent African and black culture.

Burna Boy

This is an African musician who has gained an amazing reputation as one of the top African artists in 2021 for his catchy songs. BB rose to popularity and fame in the music world with the release of his breakthrough song "Like to Party" from his first-ever album called L.I.F.E. in 2012. Though Aristokrat Records released the album after August 13th, 2013, 5 singles had already been released in 2011. Burna Boy just received a Grammy Award in 2021. Twice as Tall, his 2020 album, took home the award for Best Global Music Album.

African artists' stunning works will only bring more and more well-deserved worldwide attention to African art, whether they have previously achieved a global reputation or are just entering the scene. This concluded our list of the best African artists of 2021 without which the art scene seems dreary and bleak.
